Hoosiers Take Two from Spartans

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana softball team blanked Michigan State twice on Saturday with a 4-0 victory and a 3-0 victory in the doubleheader. The Hoosiers (19-16) have not allowed a run in three games against Michigan State this series.
Game One: Indiana 4, Michigan State 0
GAME 1 KEY MOMENTS
• In the first inning Gabbi Jenkins walked and stole second base. Grayson Radcliffe followed with a home run to put the Hoosiers up 2-0.
• In the bottom of the six inning, Radcliffe tripled and Bella Norton came up and sent one out of the park for a home run to give Indiana a 4-0 lead.
GAME 1 NOTABLES
• The home run for Radcliffe was her fifth of the season and the home run by Norton, her third of the season.
• Emily Goodin pitched six innings and gave up two hits and recorded four strikeouts.
Game Two: Indiana 3, Michigan State 0
GAME 2 KEY MOMENTS
• In the top half of the third inning, Michigan State had runners on first and second with no outs. Goodin got out of the inning and surrendered 0 runs to keep the game scoreless.
• Indiana scored their first run in the fourth inning. Norton singled and Tatum Hayes came on to pinch run. Hayes advanced to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a groundout. Abby Meeks singled to left center for the RBI to bring home Hayes and put the Hoosiers up 1-0.
• The Hoosiers added to their lead in the fifth inning. Katie Lacefield scored on a passed ball and Brooke Benson came home on a sacrifice fly from Gabbi Jenkins and Indiana took a 3-0 lead.

• The Hoosiers recorded four hits in the second game of the doubleheader. Abby Meeks had two of the four hits.
• Emily Goodin pitched seven scoreless innings. Through three games of the series, Goodin has pitched 20 scoreless innings and struck out 12 Michigan State batters.
• Grayson Radcliffe is hitting .500 in the series with four hits, three runs and two RBI.
• Goodin improved to 13-11 on the season with her two wins on Saturday.
