
Hoosier Trio Named to All-North Region Team

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana men's soccer sophomores Victor Bezerra and Roman Celentano and redshirt senior Spencer Glass earned United Soccer Coaches' All-North Region first team honors, the organization announced Tuesday.
VICTOR BEZERRA
All-North Region First Team
Bezerra has racked up the postseason honors this season after being named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, Big Ten Offensive Player of the Tournament, All-Big Ten first team and MAC Hermann semifinalist.
The Chicago native has tallied 12 goals this season, the most by a Hoosier since Eriq Zavaleta netted 18 scores in 2012. Since 2006, only two Hoosiers have scored more goals than Bezerra in a single season: Will Bruin (18 in 2010) and Zavaleta (18 in 2012).
The Hoosier striker scored five goals in the three Big Ten Tournament matches, the most ever by a Hoosier in a single B1G tournament run. Bezerra currently leads all Big Ten players in shots (45), shots on goal (24), goals (12), game-winning goals (4), and total points (28). Nationally, he ranks fourth in goals per game (0.91), tied for third in game-winning goals, and tied for sixth in points per game (2.00).
ROMAN CELENTANO
All-North Region First Team
The Naperville, Ill., native has already accumulated Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Tournament honors this season to go along with All-Big Ten first team status.
Celentano has allowed just 13 goals in 28 games started during his two-year run at Indiana, including only five conceded tallies in 14 matches this season.
He leads all Big Ten goalies in goals against average (.345), saves (50), save percentage (.909), and shutouts (8). He ranks third in saves per game at 3.57. Celentano leads the country in save percentage, ranks third in both goals against average and in shutouts across the NCAA.
SPENCER GLASS
All-North Region First Team
Glass, an All-Big Ten first team selection, earned first-team honors for the North region. He started the season on the on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List and did not disappoint. He led the conference in assists (5) and assists per game (.625), while captaining the conference's most prolific defense during the regular season. The Fort Wayne native suffered a season-ending injury in IU's 1-0 victory over Michigan.
The No. 2-ranked Hoosiers will take on the No. 3-ranked Pitt Panthers at 8:30 p.m. on May 14 at Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park with a spot in the national championship match on the line. The game will air on ESPNU with Dalen Cuff (PxP) and Devon Kerr (Analyst) on the call.
