
IU Alum Blitz to Compete with Israeli National Softball Team

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Rebecca Blitz ('18) will compete with the Israel Women's National Team this summer at the European Championship.
Blitz played for Team Israel at the 2019 European Championship and helped the team to a ninth-place finish, their best ever finish at the event.
"Words can't describe how thankful and humbled I am to represent Israel in the European Championships for a second time," Blitz said. I'm excited to have the opportunity to step out on the field again and play a small role in the growth of the sport of softball in Europe."
Blitz and her teammates will compete this summer in the European Championships June 27-July 3 in Italy. Their goal is to qualify for the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, the hometown of Blitz.
Blitz finished her Indiana career as a three-time All-Big Ten honoree. She left her mark on the IU softball record books as she ranked top-10 in hits (2nd), stolen bases (2nd), runs (4th) and career batting average (6th). Blitz recorded 236 hits, 89 stolen bases, 133 runs and a .339 career batting average.
