Jenkins Sets Doubles Record, Indiana Drops Pair of Games to Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Senior Gabbi Jenkins set a new single season record for doubles, but the Hoosiers (24-19) lost two games to Maryland on Saturday.
Game One: Maryland 3, Indiana 1
GAME 1 KEY MOMENTS
• In the bottom of the first, Maryland singled and the runner advanced to third on a passed ball and groundout. The runner scored on a wild pitch to put Maryland up 1-0.
• In the sixth inning Taylor Lambert singled and advanced to second on a Maryland throwing error. Gabbi Jenkins doubled to score Lambert and tie the game 1-1.
• Maryland responded in the bottom of the sixth inning as they loaded the bases with one out and scored two runs on an RBI single to take a 3-1 lead.
GAME 1 NOTABLES
• Gabbi Jenkins recorded her 18th double of the season to set a new Indiana program record for single season doubles.
• Emily Goodin recorded four strikeouts. Goodin moves into a tie for fourth in the IU record books for career strikeouts with 577.
Game Two: Maryland 5, Indiana 0
GAME 2 KEY MOMENTS
• Maryland scored two in the bottom of the first inning on a single, IU error and fielder's choice.
• In the top of the third inning the Hoosiers were able to load the bases but left three runners on.
• In the bottom half of the third Maryland scored on a sac fly to increase their lead to 3-0.
• In the bottom of the fourth inning, Taylor Lambert caught a fly ball and threw to home plate to get a double play.
• Maryland connected on a pair of triples in the fourth inning to go up 4-0. An RBI double in the fifth extended the lead to 5-0.
GAME 2 NOTABLES
• Annika Baez collected two hits for the Hoosiers, including a double.
• Indiana tallied six hits in the game.
