Six Former Hoosiers Ready For NBA Playoffs

Six former members of the Indiana men's basketball program, including five Big Ten champions, are members of teams preparing for the 2021 NBA Playoffs, which begin tonight.
Thomas Bryant, Washington Wizards
Bryant is out for the season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee earlier this year. Bryant had averaged 14.3 points and 6.1 rebounds while shooting .648 from the floor and .429 from 3-point range in 10 games this season. The 2016 Big Ten Champion is in his third year with the Wizards as Washington will take on Boston in the NBA Play-In round.
Yogi Ferrell, Los Angeles Clippers
Ferrell signed with the Clippers late in the season after also playing briefly with Cleveland this season. He averaged 4.6 points and 2.1 assists down the stretch for LAC. The 2013 and 2016 NBA Champion has also been with Brooklyn, Dallas and Sacramento during his five seasons in the league. His Clippers will take on the Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs. He was an All-American at IU in 2016.
Romeo Langford, Boston Celtics
Langford battled injuries earlier this season, his second with the Celtics. He averaged 3.1 points and 1.9 rebounds in 18 games. The Celtics will play the Wizards in the NBA Play-In round.
Juwan Morgan, Utah Jazz
Morgan was part of a team which won the Northwest Division of the NBA and saw action in 29 games this season. The undrafted free agent has spent two years with the Jazz and has shot 51.8% for his career. They are the top seed in the Western Conference and will await their first round opponent from the NBA Play-In round. He played on IU's 2016 Big Ten Championship team.
Victor Oladipo, Miami Heat
Oladipo, an eight-year NBA veteran, played 33 games this season with Indiana, Houston and Miami. He only played four games with the Heat and will not appear in the postseason after he underwent surgery to repair a right quadricep tendon. He was Sporting News National Player of the Year, the NCAA Defensive Player of the Year and helped IU to the Big Ten title in 2013. Miami will play Milwaukee in the first round of the playoffs. He ranks fourth all-time amongst former Hoosiers who have played professionally averaging 17.5 points behind Naismith Hall of Famer's George McGinnis, Walt Bellamy and Isiah Thomas.
Cody Zeller, Charlotte Hornets
Zeller has played all eight of his NBA seasons with the Charlotte franchise. Generously regarded as "The Big Handsome", Zeller averaged 9.4 points and 6.8 rebounds this season in 48 games. He has averaged 16 points and 9 boards in his last two games. Charlotte will face Indiana in a NBA Play-In round contest. Zeller was a first-team All-American and Big Ten champion at IU in 2013.
Two Other Former Hoosiers Finish 2020-21 NBA Season
Former IU stalwarts OG Anunoby and Eric Gordon finished their 2020-21 NBA seasons.
Anunoby, who won an NBA title with the Toronto Raptors in 2019, finished his fourth season with the franchise. The Missouri native and 2016 Big Ten champion, averaged a career-high 15.9. points and added 5.5 rebounds. He also shot 39.8% from long distance for the club which played its home games this season in Tampa, Florida.
Gordon is a 13-year NBA veteran who has played the last five seasons with the Houston Rockets. He played in 27 games and averaged 17.8 points per game. He was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and a first-team All-American and played three seasons for the Clippers and five more in New Orleans. Gordon is the fifth all-time leading scorer from IU at 16.6 points per game and leads all former Hoosiers in long distance shots with 1,622 three-point field goals made.
