Five Hoosiers Earn All-Big Ten Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana softball placed five players on All-Big Ten teams as the conference announced its annual postseason awards on Wednesday.
Gabbi Jenkins and Grace Lorsung earned placement on the All-Big Ten First Team. Emily Goodin and Grayson Radcliffe were named to the All-Big Ten Second Team. Lorsung also earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team. Jenkins and Taylor Lambert were named to the All-Defensive Team. Jenkins earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
Jenkins finished her Hoosier career in dramatic fashion. The senior hit .331 for the season and stole 24 bases, in the process setting the Hoosiers all-time record for career stolen bases with 96. Jenkins led the conference with 18 doubles on the season to set a new Indiana program record for single season doubles. Jenkins hit her first career home run in walk off fashion to beat Penn State and added two more home runs on the season. Jenkins earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors following the Hoosiers series with Ohio State in which she hit .714 with 10 hits.
In her first season in Bloomington, Lorsung hit .274 for the season with 29 hits and 20 RBI. In the Hoosiers series against Michigan State, Lorsung hit .400 with four hits and had a .500 on base percentage. Lorsung hit three home runs on the season.
Emily Goodin was one of the best pitchers in the conference all season long. Goodin led the Big Ten in innings pitched at 198 and finished third in the conference in strikeouts with 173. Goodin became the sixth-player in program history to reach 500 career strikeouts and finished the season fourth on the Hoosiers all-time list with 583 career strikeouts. Following the Hoosiers series against Penn State, Goodin was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week. She pitched 19 innings with a 0.47 era and 18 strikeouts. Earlier in the season, against Michigan State, Goodin pitched 27 innings over four games without giving up an earned run and allowing just one extra base hit. In the final series of the season, Goodin tossed her third no-hitter of her career.
Grayson Radcliffe was one of the Hoosiers most consistent hitters all season long. Radcliffe hit .315 on the season with 39 hits and led the team with 25 RBI. Radcliffe tallied 14 extra base hits, including five home runs. Radcliffe had a .411 on base percentage and was a perfect 16-for-16 in stolen bases. Over the last six series of the season in which the Hoosiers posted a record of 17-7, Radcliffe hit .362 with 25 hits and 18 RBI.
Taylor Lambert often showed the strength of her arm, throwing out runners from centerfield trying to score. Lambert recorded 55 putouts on the season and five assists with a 1.000 fielding percentage. Gabbi Jenkins covered a lot of ground in leftfield as she tallied 50 putouts and three assists.
