Washington, Gilcher Earn All-America Honors at U23 Nationals

LINCOLN, Neb. – Donnell Washington and Derek Gilcher earned All-America honors at the UWW U23 Nationals May 28-29.
Washington finished in fourth-place at 79kg, while Gilcher finished in sixth-place at 74kg.
Washington earned a 10-0 victory over Connor Herceg of Lehigh to secure a spot in the third-place match.
Gilcher beat Robert Kanniard of Rutgers 12-4 to get to the consolation semifinals. He dropped a narrow 4-2 match to Jalin Harper of Oklahoma State in the consolation semifinal, which put him in the fifth-place match.
Washington was coming off his victory in Iowa at the UWW Junior National Championships.
The Hoosiers have had three different student-athletes earn All-America honors this summer, as Jacob Bullock earned All-America honors with a seventh-place finish at the UWW Junior National Championships.
