
No. 23 Indiana Earns Road Win at Rutgers, 8-3

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The No. 23-ranked Indiana University baseball team earned a road win at Rutgers on Friday afternoon, 8-3, in Piscataway, N.J.
With the victory, the Hoosiers improve to 21-9 on the season overall and in Big Ten conference play. The Scarlet Knights fall to 17-14 on the year and in league action.
KEY MOMENTS
• Indiana jumped out to an early lead, plating a pair of runs in the top of the first. With runners on second and third with no outs, OF Grant Richardson brought across a run with an RBI groundout to first base. OF Cole Barr followed, scoring another run with a sacrifice fly to left field.
• Rutgers clawed back to tie the game, only to see the Hoosiers score six runs in the top of the eighth. C Collin Hopkins started the scoring with a two-run single, while INF James Espalin also plated a pair with a single to left-center field.
• INF Paul Toetz scored another on his second double of the afternoon, while OF Morgan Colopy earned an RBI with a bases-loaded walk.
• Out of the bullpen, LHP Ty Bothwell (2-1) earned the win for the Hoosiers, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing just one run. He scattered four hits and had a pair of strikeouts.

• Toetz's two doubles on the afternoon gives him a Big Ten-leading 16 on the season. His 16 two-baggers are an Indiana school record for doubles in Big Ten contests.
• Hopkins had two more hits for IU on Friday, making him 14-for-22 (.636) in the last six games with nine doubles, two home runs, eight RBI and seven runs scored.
• LHP Tommy Sommer posted his fourth quality start of the season, pitching 6.2 innings while allowing just two runs, one earned. He allowed just five hits while striking out six.
