PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The No. 23-ranked Indiana University baseball team fell to Nebraska on wet, Saturday afternoon, 7-6, in Piscataway, N.J.
With the setback, the Hoosiers fall to 22-10 on the season overall and in Big Ten conference play. The Cornhuskers improve to 21-10 on the year and in league action.
KEY MOMENTS
• With Nebraska leading 2-0 after three complete innings, INF Cole Barr cut the lead in half with a solo home run to right-center field. The long-ball was Barr's team-leading seventh of the season.
• The Cornhuskers were able to take advantage of batting in a downpour and two more Indiana errors to plate two unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The game was put in a rain delay in the top of the fifth.
• After the delay, the Hoosiers came out determined and took the lead. With the bases loaded, OF Grant Richardson plated a run with a sacrifice fly to center field.
• Barr stepped up to the plate next and blasted a three-run, no-doubt home run over the fence in centerfield. Barr's second homer of the game gave IU a 5-4 lead.
• With two outs in the bottom of the fifth, Richardson made a tremendous catch in centerfield, scaling the wall to rob the Huskers of the game-tying home run.
• After Nebraska scored two runs, one earned, in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead, IU battled back to tie the game on an RBI walk from INF Jeremy Houston, 6-6.
• The Cornhuskers won the game on a walk-off, infield single to second base.
NOTABLES
• Barr is the first Hoosier with two home runs in the same game since Scotty Bradley had two against Rutgers on April 17, 2019.
