BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The United States Cross Country and Track & Field Coaches Association announced their final standings for Women's Outdoor Track & Field Team of the Year. Indiana Track & Field saw its women's squad rank No. 12 on the list.
The USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award honors the institution that has achieved the most success in each academic year (spanning the cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field seasons) based on the institution's finish at the NCAA Championships.
Five student-athletes represented the Hoosier women at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships this past weekend. Khayla Dawson highlighted the field of talented Hoosiers with a fourth place finish in the shot put and a mark of 17.99m (59' 0.25"). She also competed in the discus and placed 20th overall.
Maddy Pollard competed alongside Dawson in the shot put and picked All-America honors by coming in ninth with a heave of 17.18m (56' 4.5"). Leah Moran doubled in the long jump and triple jump. Moran soared a mark of 6.29m (20' 7.75") in the long jump to come in ninth and garner All-America accolades. She returned two days later in the triple jump and placed 19th overall with a mark of 13.13m (43' 1"). Anna Watson rounded out the group in the pole vault where she cleared a height of 4.05m (13' 3.5"). Watson secured a 12th place finish and All-America Second Team honors.
As the lone Hoosier competing on the oval, Kelsey Harris took one last trip around the track in the 1500m and placed ninth. She captured a time of 4:13.93 to grab Second Team All-America honors.
The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships brought All-America honors for Pollard. She picked up seventh in the shot put and saw a mark of 16.99m (55' 9").
In a year where the cross country national meet was held in March due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Indiana women placed 19th overall in Stillwater, Okla. This was the third consecutive year that the Hoosiers placed in the top-20 on the women's side. Bailey Hertenstein led the charge with her second-consecutive All-America race. She placed 28th with a time of 20:46.4.
