Merchent Earns PING All-Region Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana men's golf freshman Clay Merchent added to his accolades over the weekend as he was named to the 2021 PING Division I All-Region Team as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
The Noblesville, Ind. native set a new program best for a freshman average with a 72.46. He became the third Hoosier in IU history to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Year. He joined Jorge Campillo and Jody Roudebush to earn the accolade. He also was the first Hoosier since Brant Peaper to be named to the Big Ten First Team.
Merchent helped lead the Hoosiers to an NCAA Regional appearance in Tallahassee and collected four top-10 finishes and two top-5 finishes.
