BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's soccer senior goalkeeper Bethany Kopel was named to the 2020-21 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Women's Soccer Team on Thursday afternoon.
This award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable).
This is the second accolade for Kopel after she was named an Academic All-Big Ten honoree. She finished the season with 44 saves and four shutouts and collected six wins to tie the program record for most conference victories in a season. In addition, Kopel earned Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week after posting two consecutive shutouts against Rutgers and Iowa.
As an All-District Honoree, Kopel will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early July.
