Hoosiers, Blue Demons Play to Scoreless Draw

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The preseason No. 2-ranked Indiana men's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw in double overtime against DePaul in the program's first of three exhibition matches at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium on Monday night.
KEY MOMENTS
• DePaul had the first look on goal in the contest when sophomore midfielder Michael Anderson fired a shot from atop the 18-yard box in the opening minute of the match. Junior keeper Roman Celentano was up to the task and easily corralled the shot.
• The Hoosiers found a chance early in the first half off a set piece, however the shot from sophomore defender Joey Maher was off target and ended in a goal kick for the Blue Demons.
• In the second half, Indiana produced two real chances on goal. The first came in the 62nd minute when freshman forward Tommy Mihalic threaded a beautiful ball to junior forward Herbert Endeley. The Blaine, Minn., native took a shot that sailed high of frame.
• Mihalic delivered another excellent pass to sophomore defender Lukas Hummel in the 76th minute. Hummel attempted a shot that missed the mark.
NOTABLES
• A total of 20 Hoosiers saw action in the debut match of the 2021 fall season.
• Indiana outshot the Blue Demons 9-3 during the 110-minute exhibition, but IU was unable to find a shot on frame. Hoosier keepers were forced to make two saves in the contest.
• IU also held an 8-2 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

UP NEXT
The Hoosiers will jump right back into action in the program's second preseason exhibition match with a clash against Wright State at Grand Park in Westfield on Aug. 19. First kick is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. The match is open to the public.
