Clancy Cruises to Scratch Cup Individual Title

DUBLIN – Indiana women's golf rising junior Valerie Clancy won the 49th Hermitage Ladies Scratch Cup, the longest running scratch cup in the country, by seven strokes at the Hermitage Golf Club on Sunday.

• Clancy shot 138 (70-68) to win the event by seven strokes over Deirdre Smith, who shot a 145 (72-73).
• The Mitchelstown, Ireland, native was the lone golfer to shoot under par in both rounds of competition and turned in the only scorecard of the day with a round score under 70.
• Clancy, a 2021 Academic All-Big Ten selection, competed in all 18 rounds for the Hoosiers as a sophomore and averaged a score of 78.67. She finished 20th overall at the Big Ten Championships and shot a team-low round of 70 in the second round.
• The Hermitage Golf Club has been named Best Parkland Course in Leinster on three separate occasions.
