Indiana Dominates Ball State 4-0 in Preseason Scrimmage

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Indiana Field Hockey team defeated Ball State 4-0 in a scrimmage at the Briner Sports Complex on Friday afternoon. This was the first match for IU in the 2021 campaign.

KEY MOMENTS
• After a scoreless first period, sophomore forward Anna Gwiazdzinski knocked in the opening goal of the season to give IU a 1-0 lead.
• Freshman forward Kayla Kiwak followed that up in quick succession to take a 2-0 advantage into the half.
• IU got insurance goals from senior forward Hailey Couch and freshman midfielder Sofia Arrebola Garcia to secure a dominant 4-0 victory.

NOTABLES
• Arrebola Garcia and Kiwak both scored their first goals in their first game in an IU uniform on Friday afternoon.
• Couch's goal was her first since 2019 after opting out of the 2020-2021 spring season due to health and safety concerns.
• IU combined to keep a clean sheet in the opening match of the season.
