IUXC Men And Women Ranked In USTFCCCA Preseason Poll

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released their preseason national poll on Tuesday afternoon. Indiana Cross Country saw its women's squad ranked No. 16 while the men's team is ranked No. 22.
USTFCCCA also came out with their first regional polls this week. The Hoosier women were ranked No. 3 in the Great Lakes Region and the men are No. 5.
The Hoosiers are coming off a 2020-21 season that saw competition at the Big Ten Championships and NCAA Championships. At the Big Ten Championships the men were team runners-up led by Ben Veatch while the women came in fourth. The women's squad was led by Bailey Hertenstein who finished in second overall.
On the national stage, the women placed 19th overall at NCAA Championships and the men finished in 26th. Hertenstein won her second All-American accolades in cross country with her 28th place finish.
Indiana opens the 2021 slate at home withthe Indiana Open. The first home meet since 2017 will be held on Saturday, Sept. 4 beginning with the women's 5k race 9:20 a.m. followed by the men's 8k race at 10:10 a.m.
