Three Women’s Golfers Named to Big Ten Watch List

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Junior Valerie Clancy, freshman Áine Donegan and senior Mary Parsons of the Indiana women's golf team were named Big Ten Players to Watch, the league announced on Tuesday morning.
Clancy has played 33 career rounds for the Hoosiers in her first two seasons on campus and boasts a career scoring average of 77.58 strokes per round. During her second season, the Mitchelstown, Ireland, native played all 18 rounds. She posted two top-40 finishes, including a 20th-place finish at the 2021 Big Ten Women's Golf Championships. Her Championships weekend was highlighted by a season-low round of 70 in the second round.
Donegan will be making her collegiate debut during the 2021-22 season for Indiana. She owns victories at the 2018 Munster, 2018 Seapoint Scratch Cup, 2019 Vaughan Lahinch Scratch Cup, 2019 Carlow Scratch Cup, and 2019 Seapoint Scratch Cup. The Ennis, County Clare, Ireland, native finished in the top-40 at the British Girls Amateur Championship in 2018 (32nd) and in '19 (17th) and she represented Ireland individually at the 2018 Fairhaven Trophy, 2019 World Junior Girls Championship Canada, 2019 Annika invitational, and 2019 Spirit International Amateur Championship Texas.
Parsons, who elected to return for her fifth season in Bloomington, is the most experienced golfer on the 2021-22 roster. She has played 95 total rounds in her four seasons with a round average of 74.23 strokes. She is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection that has a career-best finish at the Big Ten Championships of t-11th (2019) with a score of 145 (72-73). Her career stroke average of 74.23 currently ranks as the second-best all-time for a Hoosier and she has finished inside the top-10 in six tournaments throughout her career.
