Mary Kate Kesler Named IU Athletics Scholar Athlete of the Month for September

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- Indiana Field Hockey senior Mary Kate Kesler was named the IU Scholar-Athlete of the Month for September.
Kesler has played in 51 games in her IU career while receiving numerous academic awards. She was named Academic All-Big Ten in the 2020-2021 season while maintaining a 3.9 cumulative GPA as a full-time student athlete.
While pursuing a major in International Studies with minors in Spanish and Urban Planning and Community Development, Kesler was awarded the Scholastic Achievement Award for the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA on a team.
She also earned the Alpha Beta Honorary award for finishing both the fall and spring semesters with at least a 3.5 semester GPA.
Kesler led IU in points and shots in the 2020-2021 season and has helped the program in the 2021 campaign to its first 2-0 start since 2014.
IU continues its 2021 season on Friday at Miami (OH). The first home match of the year is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 6 against Bellarmine.
