BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – IU head coach Shonda Stanton has announced the addition of Cassie Green to the program as Director of Operations.
Since 2016 Green has served in a role as Director of Operations and Video Coordinator with Texas A&M Softball.
The Indianapolis, Indiana, native lettered in softball at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, from 2008-10. The infielder was a two-time team captain for the Lady Flames and earned Big South all-conference second team honors in 2010.
"Cassie will be a game-changer for our program and an integral part of our pit crew," IU head coach Shonda Stanton said. "Her life experiences and role under Coach Evans coupled with her attention to detail, work ethic, and amiable demeanor made Cassie a superior fit for our coaching staff. I speak on behalf of my coaches with how grateful we are that Cassie chose to return to Indiana and be a Hoosier."
She also was a member of the Big South all-tournament team and was named Virginia Sports Information Directors Second-Team All-State in 2010. In addition, she was named to the 2009-10 Big South Presidential Honor Roll.
Green left Liberty following her junior year, and after six-month stint with Mercy Ministries, she embarked on an 11-month mission trip to 11 different countries with Adventures in Missions in 2012. Upon her return, Green continued her education at Houghton College in Houghton, New York, and in 2013 served as an assistant coach on the Highlanders' softball staff.
In 2014, the former Cassie Hendrix married Michael Green, an Aggie who she met while on her mission trip.
"I am honored and thrilled to be joining the IU Softball family," Green said. "I'd like to thank Coach Stanton for giving me the opportunity to work with her, Coach Bell, Coach Fearn, Coach Jenkins and Team 49. As an Indiana native, this opportunity is a dream to me because I'm coming home and now I get to call myself a Hoosier in more ways than one."
