Bloomington, Indiana – The Pfau Course at Indiana University earned what is arguably its most prestigious honor to date this week, as it was tabbed as one of the top-100 public golf courses in the United States by Golf Digest.
Indiana University's home golf course came in at No. 83 in Golf Digest's rankings. Designed by Steve Smyers and Fuzzy Zoeller and first opened in the spring of 2020, The Pfau Course at Indiana University is one of only two courses in the state of Indiana to make the list, along with the Pete Dye Course in French Lick (No. 19).
In making Golf Digest's Top 100 list, the Pfau Course joins some of the nation's most iconic courses such as Pebble Beach, Pinehurst #2, Whistling Straits, Torrey Pines, and TPC Sawgrass. It is one of 10 new additions to Golf Digest's top 100, which is compiled each year.
In addition to the latest Golf Digest honor, The Pfau Course has been identified in other recent rankings as one of the nation's best on-campus golf courses (No. 4, Golf Week), one of 2020's best new golf courses (No. 3, Golf Digest) and one of the nation's best value courses (No. 13, Golf Magazine).
"When The Pfau Course at Indiana University first opened last spring, we knew that we were unveiling something special not only for our golf programs, but also the Indiana University and Bloomington communities," said IU Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Dolson. "This prestigious honor speaks to not only the tremendous work of Steve Smyers and Fuzzy Zoeller while envisioning the course, but also of Pfau Course General Manager Greg Bishop, Head Pro Jimmy St. John, Superintendent Anthony Robertson, and the entire Pfau Course team for the tremendous work they have done since we have opened our doors."
