BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Volleyball wrapped the Indiana Invitational on Friday with matches against Chicago State and Mississippi. The Hoosiers fell to the Cougars 3-0 (21-25,28-26, 23-25) followed by a loss to Mississippi, 3-0 (22-25,22-25, 24-26).

INDIANA 0, CHICAGO STATE 3
KEY MOMENTS
• In a back-and-forth battle for most of the first set, Chicago State got ahead with two Indiana handling errors and a kill to make the score 12-9.
• Out of their timeout, Indiana saw a kill from Mady Saris to keep them alive. Pulling within two, Savannah Kjolhede hit an ace to make the score 16-15.
• A kill from Breana Edwards tied the frame at 17, but Indiana couldn't find its offense and the Cougars won the opening set, 25-21.
•Kjolhede laid down the first kill of the second frame, before Edwards helped Indiana stay ahead with a kill of her own.
• Down 9-3, the Hoosiers stormed back with back-to-back kills by Ashley Zulauf and an ace from Camryn Haworth.
• A kill by Savannah Kjolhede tied the set at 10 all, and an attack error by Chicago State gave Indiana the lead.
• Exchanging points for the rest of the way, the Cougars found the advantage and went on to get the set victory, 28-26.
• Needing a rally in the third set, Kjolhede started it off again with a kill.
• Leading by as much as four, Morgan Geddes found the gap and forced Chicago State to take the timeout.
•The Hoosiers let the Cougars stick around for the rest of the set until Chicago State found the momentum that they needed to close out the match, 25-23.

NOTABLES
• Sophomore middle blocker Savannah Kjolhede led the Indiana in kills and block with 11and four, respectively.
• Graduate student setter Brooke Westbeld recorded a team-high 33 assists. Westbeld also added three kills.
• Senior outside hitter Breana Edwards had double-digit kills with 10.
• Freshman outside hitter Mady Saris raked in nine kills and had two blocks on Friday morning.
• Junior defensive specialist Paula Cerame tallied 12 digs to lead the Hoosiers.
• Redshirt sophomore outside hitter Ashley Zulauf and freshman setter Camryn Haworth put up three kills apiece
• Haley Armstrong, Emily Fitzner, Grae Gosnell, Camryn Haworth, Carly Mills, and Ashley Zulauf came off the bench for Indiana.

KEY MOMENTS
• Down 3-1 to open the match, Edwards got the Hoosier offense going with the first Indiana kill.
• Needing timeout being in the 10-7, Kjolhede went up for a kill for the Hoosiers.
• Kills by Kaley Rammelsberg, Saris, and Westbeld kept the energy up, but the Rebels took set one, 25-22.
• Edwards opened the second frame with a kill followed by an attack error by Mississippi to go up 2-0 early.
• It was a back and forth second set as Indiana broke an 8-8 tie with another shot by Edwards. A pair of kill by the Rebels forced an Indiana break and out of the timeout Rammelsberg slammed it down to bring the momentum back.
• Two straight kills by Kjolhede and Ashley Zulauf tied the set at 13-13.
• Geddes helped Indiana regain control with a kill as Indiana had the 20-19 advantage. Despite two kills by Saris, Mississippi found the set victory, 25-22.
• A slam by Sairs and Edwards paired with an attack error by Mississippi got the Hoosiers out to 3-1 lead in the third set.
• Geddes put Indiana up 13-11 by finding the back court for a kill. The two teams exchanged points until the Rebels gained a two-point lead, 20-18.
• Rammelsberg put Indiana within one and a shot by Saris eventually tied at 22 all. Edwards tied it again with a kill at 24 but Mississippi found the set point, 26-24.

NOTABLES
• Freshman outside hitter Mady Saris and senior outside hitter Breana Edwards led the squad in kills with 13 each. Edwards also had a team-high two blocks.
• Junior middle blocker and sophomore outside hitter Morgan Geddes tallied six kills apiece.
• Junior defensive specialist Paula Cerame tallied 18 digs for a squad high.
• Freshman setter Camryn Haworth saw 30 assists for the Hoosiers.
• Junior Ashley Zulauf had the lone ace for Indiana.

UP NEXT

The Hoosiers will open Big Ten play on Friday, September 21 as they play host to Michigan State. The match is set for 7 p.m. inside Wilkinson Hall.
