
Volleyball Set For Midweek Matchup At No. 8 Ohio State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Volleyball (7-7, 1-1 Big Ten) takes its first Big Ten road trip of 2021 as they take on No. 8 Ohio State (10-2, 0-2 Big Ten) on Wednesday, September 29 inside the Covelli Center. The Big Ten matchup is set for 6 p.m. and will air live on Big Ten Network.

The Opening Serve
• The Hoosiers opened conference play this past weekend by hosting Michigan State and No. 7 Purdue. Indiana was able to sweep the Spartans in Friday's match before falling to the Boilermakers on Sunday in straight sets.
• Junior middle blocker Kaley Rammelsberg leads the squad in kills and hitting percentage with 103 kills and a percentage of .414. Her hitting percentage is good for fifth in the conference.
• Freshman setter Camryn Haworth checks in at No. 6 in the Big Ten in aces with 20. She is averaging .43 a set.
• Junior defensive specialist Paula Cerame has tallied a team-leading 224 digs and ranks fifth in the Big Ten. She has an average of 4.23 per set.
• As a team, the Hoosiers have put up 162 bocks so far in 2021 which ranks No. 8 in the Big Ten.

• Ohio State owns the all-time series against the two teams 56-25. The last time the Hoosiers and Buckeyes meet was in the 2019 season where Indiana fell in 3-1 (21-25, 27-29, 21-25, 21-25). The last Hoosier win came in 2018 when they swept Ohio State, 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-22).

• OHIO STATE: Former Buckeye Jen Flynn Oldernberg is in her second season at the helm of the Ohio State squad. She has coached them to a 10-2 record overall and a No. 8 ranking in the nation. Ohio State opened Big Ten play with a pair of losses to No. 7 Purdue and No. 20 Penn State this past weekend. Junior outside hitter Gabby Gonzales leads the Buckeyes attack with 129 kills and a hitting percentage of .289. Junior Mac Podraza is their main setter who has a team-leading 451 assists. Freshman middle-blocker Arica Davis has put up a team-high 54 blocks and is averaging 1.38 blocks per set in 2021.

At home against the Spartans, Indiana was able to get the sweep, 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-19) and got the conference season off on the right foot. Senior outside hitter Breana Edwards had a team-high 13 kills and tallied one assist. Junior middle blocker Kaley Rammelsberg tallied seven kills and hit. 545. in the victory over the Spartans. Freshman setter Camryn Haworth led the Hoosiers in assists with 21 and digs with 11.
• Indiana welcomed in-state foe Purdue to close out the weekend. The Hoosiers saw glimpses of success but fell to the Boilermakers, 3-0 (17-25, 14-25, 20-25). Haworth led the attack with three kills and recorded three aces.

• Senior outside hitter Breana Edwards recorded her 1000th kill of her career in the match at Georgia Tech on Sept. 10. Edwards leads the team in kills so far this season with 158.
• Graduate Student setter Brooke Westbeld has put up 344 assists which leads the team.
• Junior middle blocker Kaley Rammelsberg has a team best hitting percentage of .414. She also has tallied 103 kills.
• Sophomore middle blocker Savannah Kjolhede has a team-leading 50 blocks.
• Senior outside hitter Kari Zumach returned to the court this weekend after missing six games due to injury. The Buffalo, Minnesota native tallied five kills and two blocks in the matches against Michigan State and Purdue.
