Davis, Salyers Lead IU through Two Rounds

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team sits three strokes off the lead after two rounds of the 2021 Hoosiers Collegiate Invitational at The Pfau Course on Sunday. The Hoosiers are led by senor Mitch Davis and sophomore Drew Salyers, who are currently tied for third place in the individual standings.

CHIP-INS
• Cincinnati (571; +3) holds a slim team lead over both Illinois (573; +5) and Indiana (574; +5) heading into the final round. The three teams will be paired together on Monday morning. Memphis (578; +10) could also factor into the final team standings.

• Sophomore Drew Salyers and senior Mitch Davis are holding down the top spots in the Hoosier lineup. Both players shot 140 (-2) during the opening day of the competition and sit in a three-way tie for third place.

• Senior Harry Reynolds and junior Noah Gillard will enter the final round tied for 26th with a two-round score of 147 (+5), while sophomore Clay Merchent is sitting at 153 (+11) and a tie for 49th in the individual standings.

• As the host of the tournament, Indiana was able to play six individuals at The Pfau. Fifth-year senior Ethan Shepherd leads the group after a strong opening performance. He shot a 143 (+1) and is tied for 10th.

• Freshman Ethan Chelf (145; +3) is tied for 21st, while fifth-year senior Evan Yakubov (147; +5) currently stands tied for 26th.

• Junior Eric Berggren (152; +10), sophomore Robbie Bender III (159; +17), and junior Drew Giacchetto (161; +19) round out the individual lineup for the Hoosiers.

• Every Hoosier in the five-man lineup tallied a birdie on the 13th green in the first round. In total, 25 golfers were able to card a 1-under on No. 13 in the opening round of the tournament.
