
Veatch Clocks Sub-4 On First Day Of Gladstein Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Track & Field wrapped its first day of hosting of the Gladstein Invitational on Friday night. Day one was highlighted by senior Ben Veatch's first career sub-4 mile.
KEY MOMENTS
• In the last event of the night on the oval, Ben Veatch laid down a time of 3:59.73 for the first sub-4 mile for the Hoosiers this season. He also picked up the win in the event.
• The Hoosiers swept the top three spots in the men's 60m. Rikkoi Brathwaite led the way with a time of 6.56 and then was followed by Antonio Laidler (6.73) and Kenny Benton (6.81). Laidler's 6.73 was a personal best.
• JaiQuan Earls rounded out the quartet in the 60m finals by placing eighth and garnering a time of 6.98.
• Indiana also took the top three spots in the fast section of the 400m. Lauren Thomas picked up the victory in a time of 55.70 while Maria Anderson was second with a time of 55.93. Elizabeth Stanhope took bronze and captured a time of 58.17.
• Ana Barrott won the fast section of the 3000m, posting a time of 9:42.19.
• Taylor Jarosinski won her first collegiate event as she cleared a height of 3.70m (12' 1.5") in the pole vault. On the men's side, Ryan Lipe notched the win with a clearance of 5.25m 17' 2.75") to complete the Hoosier sweep of the event.
• Olivia Gee raced for the first time in the cream & crimson and put up a time of 9.14 in the 60m hurdle prelim.
• Adam Stouf competed in his first meet for IU on Friday night. He collected a mark of 17.35m (56' 11.25") to finish fourth in the weight throw.
NOTABLES
• Tyler Sierks was the runner-up in the pole vault after clocking a personal record of 5.05m (16' 6.75")
• Tristan Forsythe saw a fourth place finish in the 3000m with a personal best time of 8.14.59. Austin Haskett and Gabriel Sanchez also saw personal records in the event with a time of 8:15.10 and 8:19.37, respectively.
• Mariah Wehrle returned for her second meet of the season where she saw a personal best in the mile with a time of 4:59.84.
• Rounding out the list of personal records was Jayden Ulrich who heaved a mark of 19.31m (63' 4.25") in the weight throw and was the runner-up.
• The Hoosiers also took two through seven in the mile. Arjun Jha led the rest of the field with second place finish and a time of 4:05.55. He was followed by Jake Gebhardt in third, Camden Marshall in third, Dustin Horter in fourth, Keelan Grant in sixth, and Ben Miller in seventh.

The Hoosiers return to action on Saturday, Jan. 22 to conclude hosting the Gladstein Invitational. The first event begins at 10:45 a.m.
