Indiana Wrestling Falls Short in their First Big Ten Matchup at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. –– Indiana Wrestling fell to Rutgers, 29-7, in a gritty battle on the road Friday night at Jersey Mike's Arena to open the conference portion of the schedule and drop their dual record to 2-1.
KEY MOMENTS
• Graduate student Brock Hudkins (133) continued his winning ways, shutting out Devon Britton in a 6-0 win by decision. The victory brought the Hoosiers closer through two bouts, down 4-3 as a team then.
• In the final bout of the night, junior Jacob Bullock (HWT) made his mark, taking care of Boone McDermott. Bullock held an early 2-1 advantage at the start of the first period before he went on an uninterrupted 7-0 run to earn a 9-1 major decision win.
• Prior to the dual, Indiana and Rutgers participated in two exhibition matches.
• In exhibition play, freshman Noah Gochberg (133) picked up his second consecutive win, beating Malcolm Robinson in the process, 8-6 by decision.
• The other exhibition matchup saw junior Kasper McIntosh (165) get his first action since the Cleveland State Open on Dec. 11 in an impressive 3-2 win by decision over Jake Benner.

• Hudkins' win kept his undefeated start to the season alive at 6-0.
• The victory for Bullock earned him his second major decision win this season while improving his record to 7-3.
