Salyers Matches School Record in Opening Rounds

VERO BEACH, Fla. – Junior Drew Salyers tied a program record on the first day of competition at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational as the Indiana men's golf team is tied for ninth place on Sunday. The Hoosiers shot a 563 (281-282; -13) on the day.
No. 43 North Florida (-28), No. 29 Notre Dame (-27), No. 45 Missouri (-26) and Liberty (-23) all shot under 560 in the opening rounds to carry the team leaderboard.

• Junior Drew Salyers turned in a record-tying performance on Sunday with back-to-back rounds of 65 (-7) for a total score of 130 (-14), tied for the lowest score ever record through 36 holes by an Indiana men's golfer.
• The low rounds matched the mark set by All-American Jeff Overton in both the 2003 Xavier Invitational and the 2005 Big Ten Championships.
• Salyers secured seven birdie conversions and an eagle on No. 10 in the opening round before playing a bogey-free second round that included five birdies and another eagle, this one coming on No. 14. The Howard, Ohio, native currently sits atop the player leaderboard and holds a two-stroke advantage over Nick Gabrelcik of North Florida.
• Fifth-year senior Mitch Davis played a 2-under 142 (71-71) during the debut day of the tournament. Both rounds consisted of two birdies.
• Senior Noah Gillard fired a 1-over 145 (74-71) on Sunday. He carded three birdies on the back nine of the opening round and followed it with three more birdies in the second round.
• Senior Eric Berggren turned in a scorecard of 2-ov er 146 (71-75). He converted three birdie tries in each round of the day.
• Fifth-year senior Harry Reynolds shot an 8-over 152 (75-77) with five total birdie conversions.
