10/17/2022 12:30:00 PM | Men's Basketball
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men's basketball team will enter the 2022-23 college basketball season as the No. 13-ranked team in the country, the Associated Press announced on Monday afternoon.
The ranking marks the first time since the 2016-17 season (No. 11) in which the Hoosiers will begin the season ranked in the AP Poll.
Indiana is led by second-year head coach Mike Woodson and a quartet of seniors that includes All-American Trayce Jackson-Davis, All-Big Ten performers Race Thompson and Xavier Johnson, and Miller Kopp.
The Big 12 and SEC lead the way with five ranked teams. The Big Ten, Pac 12 and ACC have three apiece and the Big East has two. The West Coast, Atlantic 10, Mountain West and American Athletic conferences each have one team in the poll.
Indiana will square off with national title favorite and preseason No. 1 North Carolina in the annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge at 9:15 p.m. ET on Nov. 30 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. On Dec. 10, Indiana will travel to No. 5 Kansas for the first installment of a home-and-home series with the Jayhawks before taking on No. 17 Arizona in the Las Vegas Clash on Dec. 17.
