Indiana Field Hockey Set to Host Ohio State & Ohio

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––––– The field hockey season is winding down as the Hoosiers will play two of their final three games of the regular season at home this weekend against No. 18 Ohio State on Friday and Ohio on Sunday. Both games are crucially important for Indiana to get in a groove ahead of potential postseason play.
CORNER HITS:
WEEKEND IMPORTANCE:
-A lot is on the line for Indiana entering its final three games, all of which are at home.
-Entering the weekend, Indiana is on the cusp of qualification for the Big Ten Tournament.
-The top seven teams in the conference qualify for the Big Ten Tournament with Indiana currently sitting at eighth.
-Ohio State is the No. 7 team in the conference right now, with a one-game advantage in Big Ten play. The Buckeyes are currently 2-4 while the Hoosiers are 1-5 in the Big Ten.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION:
-OHIO STATE:
-The Buckeyes are 8-6 with four games left in the season.
-They are coming off a weekend where they upset a top-ten Iowa team with a 2-0 win and fell to No. 3 Northwestern, 2-1, in overtime.
-After Indiana, Ohio State has Bellarmine, Ball State and No. 6 Michigan on the docket to close the regular season out.
-The Buckeyes are scoring 2.57 goals per game while allowing 1.07 goals per game to their opponents on average.
-Ohio State is led by Sarah Charley, the team's goals and points leader with nine and 20 to her name, respectively.
-The Buckeyes have six other scorers who have scored three or four goals on the season.
-OHIO:
-Ohio enters the weekend with a 7-7 mark and a two-game winning streak after recently knocking off Central Michigan and Saint Francis.
-Ohio is 2-3 in MAC play thus far.
-The Bobcats share eight opponents in common to Indiana's schedule. Like Indiana, Ohio has beaten Cal and Longwood, too.
-Ohio's leading scorer, Mijntje Ligtenberg, is also the team's leader in assists. Ligtenberg has seven of each stat.

-Last weekend, Indiana went 0-2 in the Great Lakes state, falling both to No. 10 Michigan and Michigan State on the road.
-The Hoosiers fell to Michigan, 6-0, and Michigan State, 1-0, in overtime.
-After a tight first quarter at Michigan where both teams were tied at 0-0, the Wolverines broke through with a scoring burst. Michigan scored two goals in each of the second, third and fourth quarter.
-Indiana goalkeeper Arabella Loveridge had five saves for the game. Three of her saves came in a matter of three consecutive minutes between the 47th to the 50th minute.
-Freshman Kylie Dawson made her first career start in the game.
-Sophomores Amanda Frank and Meredith Lee both registered their first Big Ten minutes of their careers. Frank also took her first three shots of her career in the game. All three were on goal.
-At Michigan State, the game was close the whole way through, as both teams were scoreless through regulation and entered overtime 0-0.
-Michigan State scored the game-winning goal when Celina Riccardo scored at the 63rd minute in overtime.
-Seven of Indiana's 12 shots were on goal against the Spartans. Additionally, seven different Hoosiers took a shot in the game.
