BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – For the first time in 17 home matches, and eight matches overall, Indiana men's soccer (7-3-4, 3-1-3 B1G) suffered defeat on Saturday (Oct. 22), as the No. 2-ranked Kentucky Wildcats (9-0-5, 3-0-3 Sun Belt) continued their unbeaten season with a 3-0 result at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
KEY MOMENTS
• 3' – Indiana had a decent opportunity three minutes in when a corner kick connected with the head of sophomore Samuel Sarver in the six-yard box. Sarver's attempt, however, went high.
• 21' – IU had another great chance from the corner when redshirt senior Ryan Wittenbrink curled it in and forced a save from UK senior goalkeeper Casper Mols.
• 28' – Kentucky sophomore midfielder Casper Grening dribbled deep into his attacking third on a breakaway and sent a grounded pass across the six-yard box. At the back post, senior forward Eythor Bjorgolfsson awkwardly put it home.
• 64' – The Wildcats extended their advantage to two goals when junior midfielder Enzo Mauriz found senior midfielder Nick Gutmann alone inside the box in transition. Gutmann blasted a volley off the left hand of IU redshirt senior goalkeeper Bryant Pratt and into the back of the net.
• 67' – A great piece of combination play set up by Bjorgolfsson and junior forward Ben Damge led to Kentucky's third score.
