• Indiana University begins its 123rd season of competition in men's basketball with its second and final exhibition matchup against Saint Francis at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT on Nov. 3.
• The Hoosiers are 28-0 in exhibition games versus non-Division I opponents since 2004-05. Indiana will open the regular season on Monday, Nov. 7, against Morehead State at SSAH.

Freshman forward Malik Reneau and sophomore center Logan Duncomb powered the Hoosiers to an exhibition win over Marian, 78-42, on Oct. 29 to unofficially kick off the 2022-23 season.
Reneau led the way with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Duncomb provided 11 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Sixth-year senior Race Thompson knocked down all three 3-point attempts and finished with 13 points. Freshman guard Jalen Hood-Schifino scored 11 points.

Senior forward Trayce Jackson-Davis was named a preseason All-American by the Associated Press, The Athletic, the Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook, College Hoops Today, The Almanac, and CBS Sports.
The former Mr. Basketball winner and Center Grove graduate ranked among the Big Ten leaders in points per game (18.3; 6th in the Big Ten), rebounds per game (8.1; 6th), field goal percentage (58.9%; 4th), free throws made (147; 5th), free throws attempted (218; 2nd), and total blocked shots (81, t-1st) in 35 starts for the Hoosiers in his third season on campus.

Returning Production
To go along with Jackson-Davis, Indiana returns four starters and nine total scholarship letterwinners. Fifth-year senior guard Xavier Johnson was named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention after putting up 12.1 points, 5.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game. Fifth-year senior forward Miller Kopp tallied 6.0 points per game on 36.1% shooting from the 3-point line. Sixth-year senior forward Race Thompson finished second on the team in rebounding (7.5) and scored 11.1 points per game.
Junior guard Trey Galloway was limited to 20 games with three starts and compiled 5.5 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. Junior forward Jordan Geronimo played in 34 contests off the bench a season ago and averaged 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Junior guard Anthony Leal started twice across 17 appearances and averaged 1.9 points per game.
Sophomore guard Tamar Bates appeared in 32 games and averaged 3.9 points and 1.3 rebounds per contest. Sophomore center Logan Duncomb saw game action in nine contests.
Non-scholarship players Michael Shipp, Nathan Childress and Shaan Burke return to the Hoosiers, while Hogan Orbaugh joined the team ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Highly-Touted Freshman Class
Five-star guard Jalen Hood-Schifino, five-star forward Malik Reneau, four-star-forward Kaleb Banks and Indiana All-Star guard CJ Gunn committed to the Hoosiers to give Indiana the fifth-ranked recruiting class in the country according to 247Sports, eighth by ESPN.com and 13th by Rivals.com.
Hood-Schifino and Reneau helped lead Montverde Academy to back-to back GEICO High School national championships.
Banks was the Georgia Class 4A Player of the Year and a 2,000-point scorer. Gunn is the all-time leader in points per game average at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis.
Hoosier Connection
Saint Francis junior guard Brayton Bailey is the son of Indiana great Damon Bailey. The Bedford native averaged 19.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game during his 1994 All-American season that ended with a trip to the Sweet 16.
Bailey, the 1990 Indiana Mr. Basketball, played in 108 IU victories, including an IU-record 11 NCAA Tournament wins.

Jackson-Davis enters the year ranked 15th all-time at IU in scoring (1,565), 19th in scoring average (16.9), ninth in rebounds (797), seventh in blocked shots (178), and seventh in field goal percentage (55.8%).
