Indiana Field Hockey Welcomes its Newest Signing Class

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––––– Indiana Field Hockey head coach Kayla Bashore announced the program's newest signing class on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The team will add six players as part of their 2023 signing class. The group will arrive in Bloomington in the fall of 2023.
 
The class includes players from four different states, including two players from Pennsylvania, and one international player from Spain.
 
Hannah Riddle | Defender/Midfielder | Louisville, Ky.
Javiera Baeza | Midfielder/Defense | Shaker Heights, Ohio
Ava Winner | Forward/Midfielder | Lutherville, Md.
Theresa Ricci | Forward/Midfielder | Garnet Valley, Pa.
Maddie Olshemski | Forward/Midfielder | Shavertown, Pa.

Hannah Riddle | Defender/Midfielder | Louisville, Ky.
- Plays for Assumption High School and club team IFHCK Field Hockey.
- Ranked in Top 30 scorers and Top 50 in total points for the 2022 KHSAA Field Hockey Season.
- Named to All-State First Team from 2020-2022, 2022 KHSAA Senior All-Star and 2021 KHSAA Junior All-Star.
- High School team won the 2019 and 2022 KHSAA State Championship and her club team finished sixth in the Nation in the U19 National Club Championship.
- Top-100 ranked recruit in the class of 2023 by Max Field Hockey.
- Intends to major in Pre-Med/Nursing.
- Parents are Ashli and Chad Riddle with sisters named Gracie and Ellie.
- Why IU: "The amazing field hockey program and great academics. The gorgeous campus instantly felt like home."
Javiera Baeza | Midfielder/Defense | Shaker Heights, Ohio
- Plays for Shaker Heights High School and club Field Hockey Life (FHL).
- Has recorded 16 goals and 17 assists in her senior season.
- Was part of club team, FHL's run to second place in the 2021 Nexus Championship.
- Ohio All-State First Team in 2021 and 2022 and the 2021 Regional Player of the Year.
- High school team was Regional Champions in 2019, 2021, 2022. Made it to the 2019 State Finals and made it to semi-finals in 2021 and 2022.
- Intends to major in Marketing.
- Parents are Sofia Caceres and Cristian Baeza.
- Why IU: "I picked IU because of the beautiful and homey campus and its business school. In relation to field hockey, I picked IU because I liked the team environment, the highly paced practices and the active communication between the coaching staff and each player individually."
Ava Winner | Forward/Midfielder | Lutherville, Md.
- Plays for Dulaney High School and Freedom HKY Club.
- Her club team earned third place at the National Club Championships in 2022 at the U19 level and at in 2021 at the U16 level.
- Intends to major in interior design.
- Parents are Michelle and Eric, has a sister named Sophia.
- Why IU: "I love how tight knit the community is. The passion people have for IU is unmatched. The team culture is fun and friendly while simultaneously being competitive."
Theresa Ricci | Forward/Midfielder | Garnet Valley, Pa.
- Plays for Garnet Valley High School and Horizon Field Hockey Club.
- Two-time top goal scorer for her high school team.
- Was part of high school's 2019 Central League championship.
- Named to All-League Team three times and named to All-Delco Team.
- Parents are Connie and Michael, has a sister named Natalie and brothers are Matthew and Jonathan.
- Why IU: "I fell in love with the campus and the school's environment. It has great academics with a strong sports culture."
Maddie Olshemski | Forward/Midfielder | Shavertown, Pa.
- Plays for Wyoming Seminary College Prep and Electric Surge Field Hockey Club.
- Part of three league championships, three district championships and has won three PIAA Class 2A State Championships.
- Named to Citizens Voice All-Star Team from 2019, 2020 and 2021.
- Named to First Team All-State in 2022 and Second Team All-State in 2020.
- Was part of Nexus Championship teams in 2021 and 2022. Played in Stars and Stripes Elite Game in 2021 and 2022.
- Participated in USA U19 Rise Nation Team Selection Camp in 2021 and 2022.
- Intends to major in Sports Media.
- Parents are Frank and Cindy Olshemski. Siblings are Gaby and Matt McKain, and Stephen and Becka Olshemski.
- Her sister Gaby played field hockey at IU.
- Why IU: "I loved everything about IU from the second I stepped on campus. I loved the atmosphere and charm that Bloomington has to it." The facilities and support student-athletes receive really stuck out to me. The team was so welcoming when I met them and it just felt like home instantly, I knew that was where I wanted to be."
- Attends Isaac Newton Secondary School
- Plays for the club team Sanse Complutense
- Has been in the starting lineup in all games in the Division of Honor.
- Earned MVP at the U18 National Championships.
- In her previous club season, the team won the Honor Division's National Championship, they were the U18 National Cup Championship, and were U18 Indoor National Champions.
- Parents are Susana and Vicente, has a brother named Diego.
- Why IU: "This team has great potential and competes in one of the best conferences in the country."
