BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Track and Field and Cross Country Head Coach Ron Helmer unveiled the 2022-2023 Indoor Track and Field Schedule on Thursday morning (Nov. 3).
The indoor schedule features a combined 10 meets over nine weekends including four home meets inside Gladstein Fieldhouse.
The 2022-2023 campaign will be the final for Helmer in his illustrious coaching career.
IU will begin the season by hosting the Hoosier Open (December 9) for the lone meet during the 2022 calendar year.
The Hoosiers will return to action following Winter Break with the Commodore Challenge on January 13th and 14th on the campus of Vanderbilt.
A pair of home meets, the Gladstein Invitational (January 20-21) and IU Relays (January 27-28), will close out the first month of 2023 for IU.
The leadup to the postseason will be heavy, beginning with the Meyo Invitational from February 3-4 on the campus of Notre Dame.
IU's final home meet of the Indoor Season will come on February 10th for the one-day Hoosier Hills meet. The Hoosiers will also send a collection of athletes to Chicago the same weekend for the Wisconsin Windy City Invite.
The Alex Wilson Invite at Notre Dame (February 18) will close out proceedings in the regular season.
Once again, Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio will play host to the Big Ten Indoor Championships. The two-day event (February 24-25) was last won by the men's team in 2020 and by the women's team in 2000.
Albuquerque, N.M. will play host to the NCAA Indoor Championships (March 10-11) after missing out on the chance to host following the cancellation of the meet in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The championships were last hosted in New Mexico in 2014.
IU qualified five entries through to last season's NCAA Indoor Championships which saw Rikkoi Brathwaite finish as the national runner-up in the 60 meters.
The outdoor schedule for 2023 will be announced at a later date but will feature the Hoosiers hosting the Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the first time since 2018.
