
Hoosiers Tied for Second at Black Knight Invite

WEST POINT, N.Y. ––––– Following a top-25 victory over No. 23 Princeton on Friday night, Indiana Wrestling wasn't fazed by a quick turnaround, wrestling well in the Black Knight Invite just two days later.
Sunday's showing for the Hoosiers included Indiana earning a second-place finish, tied with Army's 95 points. Penn State finished in first with 110.5 points.
The Hoosiers had six grapplers finish in the top four of their bracket. Redshirt junior Donnell Washington earned a first place title at 174 lbs.
KEY MOMENTS
• Indiana junior Jacob Moran (125) earned second place by way of a bye in the opening round, a victory by tech fall and a 3-2 decision victory in the semi-finals.
• Indiana freshman Henry Porter (133) went 3-2 on the day and was fourth place in his bracket.
• Cayden Rooks (141) made his way to third place in the 141 bracket.
• Graham Rooks (149), like his brother, also earned third place in the 149 bracket.
• Indiana's champion of the day, D.J. Washington (174) eased his way to first place. All four of his wins were by seven-point margin or more. Three of the wins were bonus-point victories (two tech falls, one major decision).
• A 3-2 day for Nick Willham (197) sealed a fourth place finish for the Indiana senior.
NOTABLES
• Washington is off to a 9-0 start to the season and seven of those wins have been bonus-point victories.
• Washington picked up his first ranked win of the season when he beat No. 21 Benjamin Pasiuk (Army).
• Nine of Indiana's 15 wrestlers advanced out of the opening round of 16 of their respective brackets.
• This was Indiana's first time competing in the Black Knight Invite since 2019.
UP NEXT
• Indiana will pick up next on Sunday, Dec. 4 for two dual meets in one day against Drexel and Binghamton as part of the Garden State Grapple at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. The event is in its second year and pits Big Ten teams vs. teams from the EIWA.
