Three Hoosiers Secure Big Ten Weekly Awards

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana swimming and diving student-athletes secured three of the six Big Ten weekly awards handed out on Wednesday (Nov. 23), the conference office announced.
Sophomores Quinn Henninger and Anna Peplowski and freshman Kristina Paegle each earned their second Big Ten weekly awards of the season for outstanding performances in IU's midseason meet at the Ohio State Fall Invitational.
Men's Diver of the Week: Quinn Henninger
Henninger placed top four in all three diving events at the invitational. He put an exclamation mark on his performance on Saturday with a win in platform diving, scoring 416.55 points. He led off the event scoring 79 points on a 405C and did not score fewer than 60 points on any of his remaining dives.
The sophomore placed fourth on the 3-meter springboard despite totaling 400.25 points in the event. Henninger highlighted his Friday with two dives that collected at least 80 points. He finished third on the 1-meter board, posting a 378.70 score.
Women's Swimmer of the Week: Anna Peplowski
Peplowski won six events at the midseason meet to go with a pair of runner-up finishes. The sophomore also led off all five of IU's relays, four of which earned NCAA A cuts. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Peplowski set the tone with a 48.73 in the first 100 yards as IU set a program record in 3:13.45, which ranks No. 6 in the country this season. She also posted the fastest leadoff split in the 400 medley relay, going 52.11.
Individually, Peplowski won all three events she raced. On Saturday, she became just the fourth Hoosier to hit 1:52 in the 200-yard backstroke as she beat her previous best (1:53.04) by over a second. Her winning time of 1:52.00 ranks No. 5 in the country and No. 1 in the Big Ten.
Peplowski also set the nation's fifth-best time in the 200-yard freestyle, going 1:44.19 and earned the Big Ten's best time this season in the 100 back with a 52.12.
Women's Freshman of the Week: Kristina Paegle
Paegle recorded three wins and three runner-up finishes in her first midseason action. Like Peplowski, Paegle helped IU to four NCAA A cuts in relays. Her most impressive relay came on the final night as part of IU's record-breaking 400-yard freestyle quarter. Paegle came from behind in the anchor leg to beat Ohio State senior Amy Fulmer with an incredible 47.07 split that was the fastest in the field. It would have been the third-fastest split at the 2022 NCAA Championships.
Paegle also posted the fastest freestyle splits in the 200 freestyle relay and the 200 medley relay.
The freshman's individual performances were highlighted by a runner-up finishes in the 50-yard freestyle as she became the fourth-fastest in the event in program history with a 22.11. Paegle was also the runner-up in the 100 free (48.15) and placed 12th in the 200 free (1:47.65).
