
Indiana Wrestling Leaves Reno with Two Champions and Seven Placers

RENO, Nev. ––––– Indiana Wrestling had a successful outing at the Dollamur Reno Tournament of Champions this Sunday as the Hoosiers had seven placers across the ten weight classes with two first place finishes.
Indiana redshirt senior No. 30-ranked Graham Rooks (149) and senior No. 32-ranked Jacob Bullock (285) both finished in first place in their respective brackets. As a team, Indiana placed in third for the tournament with 134.5 points.
IU had 13 wrestlers compete in the tournament, going up against 19 other teams, including grapplers from No. 13 Oklahoma State, No. 23 Michigan State, Stanford, Wyoming, Cal Baptist, Utah Valley and others.
KEY MOMENTS
• No. 30 Graham Rooks (149) sealed his championship win at 149 in comeback fashion. He was down 12-10 at the end of the third period before getting a late takedown in the closing seconds to force overtime. Rooks got a takedown to win SV-1, 14-12.
• No. 32 Jacob Bullock (285) cruised to his championship at 285 with five wins in the process, including a margin of victory no smaller than four points for each match.
• Indiana junior Jacob Moran (125) got sixth place at 125 with three bonus-point victories today.
• Freshman No. 31 Henry Porter (133) made it all the way to the final before narrowly losing in the title match by a 2-0 decision to Aden Valencia (Unattached).
• Despite a close semifinal loss, junior Derek Gilcher (157) earned third place, including a ranked victory over No. 17 Chase Saldate (Michigan State), in an 8-2 decision.
• No. 14-ranked redshirt junior DJ Washington won three matches by bonus-points (two tech falls and one major decision) en route to a third place finish.
• Senior Nick Willham (197) fought valiantly to a second place finish in his bracket. His only loss was to No. 16 Cam Caffey (Michigan State) by major decision, 12-3.

• Bullock won his second tournament title of the season after just winning the Cleveland State Open 285 championship last Sunday, Dec. 11.
• Bullock has won 12 straight matches after starting the season 0-1.
• Gilcher picked up his first ranked victory of the season against No. 17 Saldate.
• Rooks won his second tournament title this year. He also won the 149 bracket of the Maryville Open in the first weekend of the season.
