Davis Named Big Ten Golfer of the Week
2/10/2022 11:30:00 AM | Men's Golf
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana senior Mitch Davis was selected as the Big Ten Golfer of the Week, the league office announced on Thursday morning.
Davis sank the winning putt on the 18th green of the Big Ten Match Play Championships to lead the Hoosiers to the program's second-straight victory in the event and third overall since the inception of the event in 2009.
The Valparaiso native was the lone Hoosier to outright win all three of his individual matchups in the event after taking down Lou Olsakovsky (3&1) of Penn State, Cole Bradley (7&5) of Purdue, and Ashton McCulloch (1UP) of Michigan State.
His putt on the 18th green in the championship match against McCulloch proved to be the deciding mark in the team standings and clinched the victory for the Cream 'n Crimson.
Davis joins Drew Salyers (Sept. 8 & 22) as Hoosiers to win Big Ten Men's Golfer of the Week this season. Only one other school in the league (Michigan State) has had multiple players earn player of the week accolades this season.
The Hoosiers will be back on the course for the Nexus Collegiate hosted by Auburn from Feb. 14-16 at the Albany Championship Golf Course in Bahamas.
