Hoosiers Top Bethune Cookman, Fall to Northern Illinois

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Indiana softball went 1-1 on day two of the FAU First Pitch Classic. The Hoosiers picked up a 3-1 win over Bethune Cookman and were defeated 14-3 against Northern Illinois on Saturday.
Game 1: Indiana 3, Bethune Cookman 1
Key Moments
• Grayson Radcliffe doubled, but was throw out tagging and going to third in the top of the first.
• In the bottom of the second Lindsey Warick threw out her second runner of the weekend.
• In the top of the second Sarah Stone singled, Brittany Ford singled, Tatum Hayes came in to run and scored to give the Hoosiers a 1-0 lead.
• In the top of the third Brooke Benson bunted for a base hit and Grayson Radcliffe brought her home with an RBI double to put Indiana up 2-0.
• BCU put runners on second and third with one out in the sixth. The Hoosiers got an out at home and a flyout to end the threat.
• Aaliyah Andrews and Abby Meeks doubles in the seventh to put the Hoosiers up 3-0.

• The Hoosiers started three freshmen, including their pitcher Brianna Copeland.
• Indiana registered seven hits in the game.
• Kinsey Mitchell tallied one stolen base.
• Grayson Radcliffe recorded two hits.
Game 2: Northern Illinois 14, Indiana 3
Key Moments
• After giving up three runs in the top half of the first the Hoosiers came back to plate two in the bottom half courtesy of an RBI double by Brittany Ford.
• In the second inning Brooke Benson tripled and was driven in by an RBI single by Kinsey Mitchell.
Notes
• Brittany Ford recorded one hit and two RBI.
• The Hoosiers had two stolen bases, both by Cora Bassett.
• The Hoosiers are now 2-2 on the season.
