BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana men's soccer head coach Todd Yeagley announced Monday (Feb. 21) that the Hoosiers will play in five exhibition matches this spring.
IU's 2022 spring schedule includes four opponents that earned NCAA Tournament berths in 2021. The Hoosiers will play two matches on the road, two neutral site games and one match at home on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium on April 16.
Indiana's slate kicks off on Saturday (Feb. 26) afternoon as it travels to Indianapolis to play Butler at the Butler Bowl. The two teams met in Bloomington in August in a 1-0 win for the Hoosiers, decided by sophomore Joey Maher's 29th minute goal. Following the in-state matchup, IU's four remaining matches will be played in April.
IU will return to exhibition action on Saturday, April 2, when they head to St. Louis to face the Saint Louis Billikens, who made an Elite Eight run in the fall. The contest will be a homecoming for several St. Louis, Missouri, natives on Indiana's roster, including its star center back duo of junior Daniel Munie and sophomore Joey Maher.
A week later, the Hoosiers visit fellow Sweet 16 finisher Kentucky on Saturday, April 9. The two programs last met in the 2019 NCAA Tournament Second Round when the Hoosiers cruised to a 3-0 victory from a Victor Bezerra hat trick.
On Saturday, April 16, at 3 p.m. ET, the Hoosiers will host their lone home match of the spring when they welcome Lipscomb to Bill Armstrong Stadium. Lipscomb earned a spot in the 2021 NCAA Tournament, where they suffered a 4-2 defeat to Hofstra in the opening round.
To close out the spring, Indiana and 2021 NCAA College Cup participant Notre Dame will meet halfway at the Grand Park Sports Campus in Indianapolis on Friday, April 22. IU and Notre Dame opened the 2021 season with an overtime thriller on August 27 as junior Ben Yeagley's golden goal gave Indiana the 3-2 win.
Indiana's 2022 spring schedule is subject to change.
