
Hoosiers Earn 21 Final Placements Friday

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – No. 4 Indiana swimming and diving will have 21 individual finalists in the Big Ten Men's Swimming and Diving Championships' Friday (Feb. 25) night session, with 13 of those coming in championship finals, following preliminary action inside Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
IU clinched three spots in each A final of the 100 Butterfly, 100 Backstroke and 3-meter dive and at least one championship finalist in each swimming event. The Hoosiers will also compete in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Indiana has at least one athlete in each consolation final.

NOTABLES
• Indiana will be represented by three of the top four seeds in the 100 Butterfly A final. Senior Bruno Blaskovic took the top spot (45.24). Sophomore Tomer Frankel (45.28) was right behind him, finishing 1-2 with senior Gabriel Fantoni (45.39) in the fourth of six heats.
• IU will also have the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 seeds in the 100 Backstroke A final, featuring Fantoni, junior Brendan Burns and senior Jacob Steele in order. Fantoni and Steele placed first and third, respectively, in last year's Big Ten meet, as Fantoni captured his fourth straight title in the event. He'll go for a fifth straight Friday evening, unprecedented in any individual event.
• Hoosier diving will have three athletes competing in the 3-meter championship final. All three athletes scored 400 or better during the preliminary session, and senior Andrew Capobianco (446.25) and freshman Carson Tyler (437.00) finished second and third respectively. Freshman Quinn Henninger tallied a 405.60 to place seventh.
