Hoosier Bats Explode in 17-5 Win Against Ohio State

Game 1: Ohio State: 6, Indiana: 2
Key Moments
• The Buckeyes hit two home runs and scored four runs in the bottom half of the first inning to take a 4-0 lead.
• The Hoosiers earned a pair of walks and a single to load the bases in the second inning but could not plate a run.
• Grace Lorsung doubled in the third inning, but was stranded.
• In the sixth inning the Hoosiers hit back-to-back home runs by Brooke Benson and Brittany Ford to get within four at 6-2.

• Brooke Benson homered for the second straight weekend and third time this season.
• The home run by Brittany Ford was her fifth of the season.
• Indiana recorded five hits in the game.
• Heather Johnson and Brianna Copeland each pitched three innings. Copeland came on in relief and struck out four batters and didn't give up a hit.

Key Moments
• The Hoosiers struck first in the first inning. Cora Bassett singled and stole a base and Grace Lorsung recorded an RBI single to score Bassett.
• In the second inning Taylor Minnick singled with two outs and Macy Montgomery drew a walk. Cora Bassett then launched one to left center for a home run to put the Hoosiers up 4-2.
• In the third inning Brianna Copeland and Lindsey Warick homered for the Hoosiers. The Hoosiers scored six runs in the third inning.
• In the fifth inning Brianna Copeland hit her second home run of the game.
• Taylor Minnick hit her first home run as a Hoosier in the fifth inning.

• The home run by Cora Bassett was her eighth of the season.
• Copeland hit her third and fourth home run of the season and Warick her second.
• The Hoosiers had 12 batters in the third inning. They scored six runs on five hits and stole three bases in the inning.
• The Hoosiers 16 hits in the game are tied for their fourth most hits in a game since the 2000 season.
• Indiana had five home runs in the game and now have 29 for the season through 24 games. Last season the Hoosiers had 28 home runs in 44 games.
