Hoosiers Rally for 5-4 Win over Rutgers

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana softball team secured a second win over Rutgers with a four run fifth inning and a 5-4 victory on Saturday at Andy Mohr Field.
Key Moments
• In the Hoosiers first inning Brittany Ford doubled to right field and drove in Taylor Minnick to put the Hoosiers up 1-0.
• The Hoosiers scored four runs in the fifth inning. Taylor Minnick hit an RBI double that scored Brooke Benson. Brianna Copeland tripled to score Cora Bassett and Minnick. Copeland scored when Grayson Radcliffe reached on an error.
• Rutgers scored two in the sixth inning to narrow the gap to one at 5-4.
• With runners on second and third in the top of the seventh inning Grayson Radcliffe fielded a hard-hit ball at third base to get the Hoosiers out of the inning and the victory.
Notes
• Indiana improves to 21-10 overall and 4-4 in Big Ten games.
• Macy Montgomery came on in relief and got the victory, her ninth of the season.
• Indiana scored all five of their runs with two outs. The Hoosiers have now scored 60 runs on the season with two outs.
• Taylor Minnick continued her production at the plate with her fifth double of the season. Minnick is hitting .524 in eight Big Ten games combined this season. Brianna Copeland is hitting .480 in Big Ten games.
