Indiana Baseball’s Bothwell Tabbed Big Ten Pitcher of the Week

Left-hander tossed seven no-hit innings versus Minnesota to close out a series win
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – After tossing seven hitless innings against Minnesota, redshirt-junior Ty Bothwell earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, announced the conference office on Wednesday (May 18).
After a 22 hour, 32 minute rain delay that pushed the second game of the series into Sunday, Bothwell came on in relief and produced seven innings of hitless work to help IU to its second shutout of the season. He struck out eight and walked three to earn the victory.
The left-hander threw a career-high 111 pitches over his personal-best seven innings of work. His eight strikeouts are a season-high and tied for the second most in his career.
Combined with Bradley Brehmer, who started Saturday's game before the rain hit, the duo allowed just one hit and walked four. The win locked up Indiana's fourth-straight Big Ten series win. It was the first time IU limited an opponent to one-or-fewer hits since tossing a no-hitter against Illinois in 2021.
Bothwell also joins Brehmer as the two Hoosier pitchers to earn Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, while freshmen Carter Mathison and Josh Pyne have each earned B1G Freshman of the Week in 2022.
The final weekend of the regular season will take the Hoosiers to Iowa City for a three-game series at Iowa. The two teams will kick off the series on Thursday, May 19 at 7 p.m. ET.
