
IU Finishes 12th at Palm Beach Gardens Regional

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The Indiana men's golf team finished 12th after 54 holes of play at the 2022 NCAA Palm Beach Gardens Regional on Wednesday.
The Hoosiers shot a 10-over 298 at the PGA National Resort – Champion Course on Wednesday to finish the tournament at 910 (308-304-298; +46).
Vanderbilt, the third-ranked team in the country, dominated the final two rounds to earn the team victory at 844 (-20). No. 22 Florida State (856; -8) and No. 10 Florida (862; -2) each shot under par to finish second and third, respectively. No. 40 South Florida (876; +12) and College of Charleston (878; +14) claimed the final two advancing spots.

• Fifth-year senior Ethan Shepherd had an eventful day on the course after shooting a 1-over 73 for the second-straight round. He knocked down a total of four birdies, including three in his first nine holes of the day. He finished t-39th in the individual ranks.
• Senior Mitch Davis matched the best single-round Hoosier scorecard of the week after shooting a 1-over 73 in the final round. He carded a team-best five birdies, including back-to-back efforts on No. 2 and No. 3 and No. 17 and No. 18. He finished the tournament tied for 45th place.
• The birdie from Davis on No. 17 was the only birdie on that hole for IU all tournament as the hole played as the most difficult hole of the week. During the final round, Indiana played even par on No. 17.
• Fifth-year senior Evan Yakubov sank a pair of birdies (No. 3 and No. 10) during his final collegiate round of 6-over 78. He finished the tournament third on the Hoosier lineup and tied for 54th overall.
• Senior Harry Reynolds shot a 2-over 74 in the final round of play. He converted three birdie chances with two coming on his first four holes (No. 10 and No. 13).
• Sophomore Drew Salyers closed his second season in Bloomington with a 6-over 78. His up-and-down day consisted of birdies on No. 3, No. 7 and No. 12. He finished 62nd overall.
• The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team from each regional site (six individuals total) will advance to the NCAA Championships, set for May 27-June 1 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
