Emily Basten Elevated to Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – IU head coach Erwin van Bennekom has announced that assistant coach Emily Basten will be elevated to assistant coach/recruiting coordinator.
Basten is in her sixth year with the Indiana women's soccer program and third year as a full-time assistant coach. Basten played for the Hoosiers in 2015 and started all 19 games as a defender.
Last season Basten helped the Hoosiers to their best overall record, most wins and highest RPI since the 2013 season.
"Emily has made a huge impact on the program and has continued to get better and better," van Bennekom said. "This role will have Emily streamline and lead our identification and recruiting efforts of high-level student athletes who are a good fit for our program."
Along with her work for Indiana Women's Soccer, Basten has extensive coaching experience on the club side for both Alliance FC and Cutters.
"I am honored and excited to build upon my role within IU Women's Soccer, which is comprised of a dedicated group of student athletes and staff who I believe will continue to grow this program in exciting ways both on and off the field," Basten said. "It has been an honor to be a part of the staff since Erwin took over in 2019 and I appreciate his support and confidence as we look to set Indiana up for success for years to come.
