Gerstenberg Named Big Ten Co-Goalkeeper of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana sophomore Jamie Gerstenberg was selected as the Big Ten Co-Goalkeeper of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Gerstenberg opened the season with a shutout at West Virginia in which she made four saves. Three days later, she shutout Virginia Tech with a career-high eight saves.
In her career, Gerstenberg has made 18 starts with 11 cleansheets. She holds a goals against average of 0.45 and has allowed one or fewer goals in 17 starts. She is tied for sixth in program history (Shaunna Daugherty) in career shutouts.
The honor marks the first from the Big Ten since Gerstenberg was named Freshman of the Week on Sept. 14, 2021. Senior forward Paige Webber was named Offensive Player of the Week on the same day. IU last had a Goalkeeper of the Week (Bethany Kopel) on March 2, 2021.
The Hoosiers will be back on the pitch for the team's home opener against Ball State at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
