Hoosiers Fall in Conference Opener to Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa. ––– Indiana Field Hockey fell short on the road at Iowa losing, 5-1, on Friday afternoon in the team's Big Ten opener.
The loss brings Indiana's overall record to 5-3 and puts the conference mark at 0-1.
KEY MOMENTS
• Iowa scored two of their goals early in the first quarter with Lokke Stribos and Esme Gibson scoring at the 2' and 5' minute marks.
• Indiana got into their offensive attack midway through the second quarter, earning a penalty corner at 23', leading to a shot from freshman Anna Mozeleski that was blocked.
• The Hoosiers came close to breaking through at 27' when junior Jemima Cookson had a shot on goal but was saved by Iowa's Grace McGuire.
• Iowa tacked on two more goals in the third quarter to go up 4-0.
• Cookson scored at the 50th minute off a chance created by sophomore Maggie Carter assisted on the play. Carter drew the defense in the edge of the circle before passing it off to Cookson for a tap-in goal.
