Western Kentucky at Indiana
September 17, 2022
TEAM
• Indiana is 5-0 all-time against Western Kentucky, with the first meeting coming during the 2008 season.
• IU started a season with three straight home games for just the 12th time in program history and first time since 2015. Including this season, the Hoosiers have started 3-0 in three of those seasons (1917, 2015, 2022) with a fourth undefeated season in 1898 (2-0-1).
• Head coach Tom Allen is 14-1 all-time against non-conference opponents during the regular season and 9-1 all-time in non-conference home games.
• Allen has started 3-0 for the third time as a head coach (2018, 2020, 2022).
• Indiana's captains were AJ Barner, Devon Matthews, Tiawan Mullen and Jack Tuttle. For overtime, Cam Jones served as the captain for the coin toss.
• Indiana won the coin toss and deferred to the second half. Western Kentucky received the opening kickoff. In overtime, IU won the coin toss and elected to go on defense first.
• With Caleb Murphy's start at center, nine student-athletes have made their first career starts at Indiana. The list includes quarterback Connor Bazelak, wide receiver Cam Camper, wide receiver Andison Coby, offensive lineman Parker Hanna, outside linebacker Myles Jackson, outside linebacker Dasan McCullough, defensive lineman Beau Robbins and running back Shaun Shivers.
• Two Hoosiers made their collegiate debuts and now 17 total have debuted in 2022. The two to debut versus Western Kentucky were wide receiver Connor Delp and defensive lineman Cooper Jones.
• The 12 pass catchers in the game are the most for Indiana since at least 2005. In 2019, 12 different receivers logged receptions versus Eastern Illinois.
• Indiana is now 6-7 all-time in overtime contests, including three straight wins.
• Saturday's game was IU's first overtime game since a 36-35 victory over Penn State in 2020.
• The walk-off field goal was the first since Griffin Oakes in overtime versus Michigan State in 2016 (24-21).
