IUMS Hosts Top-10 Matchup

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The 10th-ranked Indiana men's soccer team (0-1-1) will welcome No. 8 Notre Dame (1-1-0) for Saturday (Sep. 3) night's top-10 matchup on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
The match will be streamed live on the Big Ten Plus digital platform with kickoff set for 8 p.m. ET.
Saturday night's match features several promotions. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Hoosier Army T-Shirt. Additionally, fans who show their ticket from Friday's IU football game versus Illinois are eligible to purchase a $5 ticket for Saturday's match. Lastly, Saturday is "For the Kicks Night," as IUMS and IU Dance Marathon will host a family-friendly tailgate prior to the match.
SETTING THE SCENE
• Saturday's match is the second of a four-game homestand for IU with each contest coming against an opponent that reached the NCAA Tournament last season.
• IU owns a 345-69-50 record all-time at Bill Armstrong Stadium. The Hoosiers are undefeated in 10 straight home matches, going 9-0-1 in that span.
• Redshirt senior Ryan Wittenbrink has scored two goals in two matches to start the season.
• Senior Nyk Sessock tallied two assists in IU's previous match versus Portland.
ABOUT THE FIGHTING IRISH
• Notre Dame comes into the match with a 1-1-0 record. The Fighting Irish fell to Seattle, 3-1, in their season opener before beating Michigan State on Monday (Aug. 29), 3-2.
• In 2021, Notre Dame owned a 14-5-5 record and reached the NCAA College Cup where it fell to eventual national champion Clemson in a penalty shootout.
• The Fighting Irish are led by fifth-year head coach Chad Riley. Riley has compiled a 44-30-9 record at Notre Dame.
SERIES HISTORY
• Indiana owns a 32-10-3 record against Notre Dame all-time and is undefeated in the last five meetings, going 4-0-1 in that span.
• Three of the last four contests have gone to overtime, including last season's 3-2 win for IU; Ben Yeagley scored the winner with a laser in overtime. Tommy Mihalic scored a brace in what was his IU debut.
• The two teams have met in 20 of the last 21 seasons, only missing the unique 2020-21 campaign due to IU's conference-only schedule. In that span, the programs have met 23 times.
