NBA Season Opens with Eight Former Hoosiers in Training Camp

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Eight former Indiana Hoosiers will be in training camp as the NBA begins its 77th regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Preseason games are slated to start this coming weekend.
 
OG Anunoby, Toronto Raptors
The native of Great Britain begins his sixth year with the Raptors… he averaged a career-high 17.1 points per game a season ago and has started 227 career games in his career… he has averaged double figures in each of his last three seasons and won an NBA title with Toronto in 2019… he was a member of IU's 2016 Big Ten Championship squad.
 
Thomas Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers
A native of Rochester, New York, Bryant enters his sixth season in the league and returns to the team that originally drafted him, the Los Angeles Lakers, after spending the last four years in Washington… in his four seasons with the Wizards, he started 108 games and averaged 11.0 points and 6.2 rebounds… he was a member of IU's 2016 Big Ten Championship team.
 
Eric Gordon, Houston Rockets
The 2007 Indiana Mr. Basketball from Indianapolis will start his 15th season in the NBA and seventh with the Houston Rockets… originally a lottery pick with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2008, he also played in New Orleans… the former Big Ten Freshman of the Year has averaged 16.4 points per game and started 570 games in his career.
 
Romeo Langford, San Antonio Spurs
He was named Indiana Mr. Basketball in 2018 and the New Albany native earned All-Big Ten honors in his only season in Bloomington… he begins his fourth year in the NBA and this will be his first full season with the San Antonio Spurs and beginning his career as a lottery pick of the Boston Celtics… he has averaged 3.6 points in 98 games, including 4.7 with the Celtics last year.
 
Juwan Morgan, Los Angeles Clippers
Morgan was an undrafted free agent will join the fourth team in his NBA career while suiting up for the Los Angeles Clippers… he previously has played for the Utah Jazz, Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors… he played 50 career games with the Jazz from 2019-21… he was a member of the 2016 Big Ten championship squad… he grew up in Waynesville, Mo.
 
Victor Oladipo, Miami Heat
The former No. 2 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft looks to rebound from injuries which have limited the Maryland native to just 12 games since joining the Miami Heat in 2020-21… he has played for Orlando, Oklahoma City, Indiana and Houston in his career… an NBA All-Star, he averaged a career-high 23.1 points with the Pacers in 2017-18 and helped IU to the 2013 Big Ten crown earning National Player of the Year honors with the Hoosiers.
 
Noah Vonleh, Boston Celtics
A former lottery pick with Charlotte and Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2014, he is in camp with the Celtics… he looks to return to the NBA for his eighth season after playing overseas a year ago… he has played for Portland, Chicago, New York, Brooklyn, Minnesota and Denver… in 2018-19 he started 57 games for the Knicks and averaged 8.4 points and 7.8 rebounds.
 
Cody Zeller, Utah Jazz
Zeller, the fourth pick in the 2013 NBA Draft will begin his 10th season as a professional joining the Jazz…the former Indiana Mr. Basketball and IU All-American played eight seasons in Charlotte and last year in Portland… he has started 273 games in his career and averaged 8.5 points and 6.0 rebounds… he averaged a career-high 11.0 points in 2019-20… he also was a member of the 2013 Big Ten Championship team.
