Tina Parrott Named to IU Athletics Hall of Fame

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Tina Parrott, one of IU's most-decorated middle distance runners of all-time, is among a six-person class named to the 2022 IU Athletics Hall of Fame Class, as announced Tuesday by Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Dolson.
She joins Jenn Cristy (Women's Swimming and Diving), Don Fischer (Play-by-Play Announcer), Lin Loring (Women's Tennis Coach), Ashley Benson (Volleyball) and D.J. White (Men's Basketball) in the 39th class of honorees into the IU Athletics Hall of Fame.
A three-time All-American for the Hoosiers, Parrott won the 1985 NCAA Indoor Championship in the 800 meters. She also supplied a leg as IU won the 4x400 relay in the same competition.
In 1986, Parrott finished as the NCAA runner-up in the 800 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Parrott provided three individual Big Ten titles for the Hoosiers including two across 800 meters and one at 1500 meters. She also played a part in five Big Ten-winning 4x400 teams including three-straight outdoor crowns from 1984-1986.
The Indianapolis native was an All-Big Ten selection from 1984-1986 and holds claim to IU's only ever Big Ten title in the 1500 meters in program history.
Parrott will be inducted at the Hall of Fame Dinner on Friday, October 14th before being honored at the home football game on October 15th against Maryland.
